2 month check up
Well the time arrived when our daughter would receive her first big set of immunizations and .....she did wonderful and so did I:) She cried but once I held her she was fine. She got 3 shots and one oral dose. The good thing about this age is that they don't remember once it is over! We can tell she is a little sore because one of her favorite things to do is to stand on our laps and look around and she is not wanting to do that today. Poor thing! We are giving her Tylenol and extra loving to help:) She weighs 12 lbs and is 22 3/4 inches long! She is in the 70% and 80% respectively on the growth charts! Another huge thing to report is except for 1 day the last week she has slept from about 9:30 or 10:00 to 6:30 or 7 in the morning!!! Mommy is absolutely loving that and hopes that continues forever!

2 months
Well I can not believe in just 4 short days our daughter will be 2 months old! On one hand it seems like I blinked and she is this old but on the other hand it has been a tough 2 months. She is becoming more and more aware of her surroundings everyday! She is also starting to appreciate all the "stuff" we acquired before she was born. She took 2 naps in her swing today...enjoyed tummy time and play time on her play mat and went shopping with mommy in her car seat. I can honestly say each day is better then the last because I am excited to see what that day will bring and what she will do. I know I am feeling more like myself when last night after coming home from my parents I successfully dropped the baby monitor into the toilet!! Now probably a week ago this would have sent me into hysterics and I would have been crying up until Kevin got home from work. However, unlike the day there was sauerkraut coming out of my bathtub ( another day another story) I took this annoyance in stride. We attempted to save the monitor in a bowl of rice but it could not be saved. So instead of spending the Target gift cards I had been saving on who knows what...a new monitor has been purchased! Not having the monitor last night did give me some perspective that I check it too much. Charlotte slept from 10pm to 6:30am and was perfectly fine! I think that was God's way of telling me, to check the monitor less and a blessing of sleep on top of it!

Smiles and Sleeping Baby
Well today marks 2 nights in a row that our little lady has slept pretty much uninterrupted from 9ish to 5:30:) I hope this becomes a trend. I am somewhat of a "worrier" as Kevin would say. I think I just think to far into the future. I have been working hard at just looking at one day a time. So today I will be thankful that my daughter slept thru the night, the sun is shining, Kevin is off tonight and for the next 3 days, my families health and so many more things to list. Last night at our RCIA classes, Father Kavanaugh was speaking about the sacrament of Reconciliation and it's meaningfulness. It reminded me that we have to look into ourselves and remember the good and the bad. It reminded me to build on the positives in my life and let the negatives behind. Today I will try and do just that.

Knowledge
A funny thing about parenthood is that just when you think you know something it changes...I will explain. Just when I think Charlotte will never fall asleep in her swing and stay there for 30 minutes and counting :) she does. Just when I am sure she will not sleep at all during the day because she slept from 10-4 and then 5-9 she does! However, with my child each day is a new adventure. This morning when my mom and I were watching her wake up she smiled. No not the social smile that I so desperately want her little brain to develop but a couple amazing smiles to tell me..."Hey Mom, it's going to be a good day". So far, the sun is shining outside, Charlotte is sleeping in her swing, Asa is sleeping next to me and Kevin is working days which means he gets off at 4...I would most definitely agree that yes today is a good day!
O yeah...Go Bucks!!!
Second best day of my life!

Zantac
Well we have discovered that Charlotte has reflux. We started her on Zantac on Monday and so far we have seen an improvement. She is what I would call gastrointestinally challenged! Yes I am aware that is not a word but it fits her! She is up to 10 lbs! She absolutely loves to eat and really enjoys being held...all the time! She is however sleeping at night...which is good but then results in her wanting to eat all the time during the day. Sometimes when I find myself worrying or trying to "figure" her out I remember what Kevin says..."she is baby Kathleen... her brain is still developing- she doesn't know what she wants!" It is easy to say that but when I am in the moment of her screaming and me trying for an hour to eat my dinner it is hard to keep that in perspective.
Today marks a momentous day in the Phelan household. We purchased a new couch. I pretty much have hated my couch from about a month into owning it. I love the color and pattern but that is about all. Since we tend to spend so much time on this piece of furniture we decided to bit the bullet and get a new one. I will post pics when it is delivered next Tuesday (Happy Birthday Kevin!)

Ice Storm
Well the terrible weather that other parts of the country have experienced this winter have hit Columbus. Thankfully we survived the first wave of ice/freezing rain without losing power! We did temporarily lose cable and phone but the heat and lights never went out! My mom, aunt and uncle all lost power so I am crossing my fingers that our power stays. As I'm writing this the ice has seemed to stop and now the snow has started to swirl. The winds have also died down which is good news on the power front I am thinking. However, I am keeping my candles and flashlights out just in case! Good luck to anyone out there without power...stay warm if you can:)
